As a patient you have the right to thorough and respectful treatment and care. Our aim at The Institute of Endosurgery is to maintain and improve your health. We respect your wishes in all matters. You can prepare advance directive in case you are not able to express your intentions at a later point.
Your doctor is obliged to inform you about all examinations, treatment options and interventions. This duty to inform is considered void only when immediate action is necessary. Scheduled investigations, interventions and treatments are carried out only with your informed consent.
Our staff is bound to confidentiality. We communicate information about your health to other parties only with your consent (or if required by law). However, we assume your consent when providing your caregivers, pre and post-treatment physicians and other further attending persons with relevant information
You can designate your caregivers yourself. If no caregivers are specified, your partner or close family members will be regarded as caregivers.
The Institute of Endosurgery is involved in medical research. You may be asked if you would like to participate in a study of a new method of treatment or medication. You have the right to refuse and will not be at a disadvantage with regard to your treatment. Find out more about participating in a study here.
We ask you to participate whenever possible. These studies contribute significantly to medical progress. They are highly beneficial for patients both now and in future.
They adhere to strict national and international regulations. You can withdraw your consent to participate in the study at any time and without notice.
The hospital is obliged to keep records for all patients. This provides information on testing and treatment (examinations, diagnoses, treatment, care). Patient documentation must be kept for at least 10 years following the patient's last treatment at the Institute of Endosurgery.
Patient documentation is the property of the hospital. Patients may request access to patient documentation and are entitled to receive copies (the hospital may charge a fee). The patient may wish to receive the original patient documentation upon expiry of the retention period – otherwise, it will be destroyed.
